The Islamic Development Bank (Bid) and microfinance institutions have signed conventions and agreements marking a crucial step in the strategic partnership between the Republic of Senegal and the Bid.

The agreement signing ceremony is not a outcome, according to the Minister of Microfinance and Social Economy and solidarity, Alioune Dione, but the operational starting point of a vision shared. A vision where finance is an end in itself, but a powerful lever for prosperity that is inclusive, equitable and respectful of our values.

The minister also said that “the conventions that we are signing today are resolutely part of the new trajectory driven by the highest authorities of our country which is Make Islamic finance a strategic pillar of economic development and social services in Senegal”. He also explained that this ambition is reflected in through a strong political will, materialized with innovative instruments and structuring, designed by his department to create a coherent ecosystem and efficient where Islamic Finance is at the service of a transformation structural.
