As part of the fight against drug trafficking, the Kaolack Customs Unit seized 24 kg of Indian hemp buried in bags containing peanuts in a refrigerated truck. According to a note from the Public Relations and Communication Office of the Directorate General of Customs, the seizure is the result of combined investigations, spinning and controlled delivery of agents stationed at the Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Bridge in Kaolack and those of the Mobile Customs Brigade of Kaolack. In total, 5 individuals have already been arrested in Dakar, Ziguinchor and Kaolack. The total value of the drug is estimated at 13,920,000 CFA francs.

According to the communication service of the customs, on Monday, August 17, the mobile brigade of the customs of Kolda, had seized, around 11h 45mn, 84kg of Indian hemp in Saré Sada.

The defendant, who was arrested during the operation, was transporting the drugs on a motorcycle that was also seized. This brings to 108 kg the quantity seized, in 48 hours in the Center and South of the country and to 285 kg that made in the week by the customs units.

264 bags of fraudulent sugar seized in Nganda

As regards, moreover, operations to secure the internal market and the fight against fraud and smuggling, the officers of the customs post of Nganda, subdivision of Kaffrine, intercepted 264 bags of sugar concealed in bags of millet and transported in a  lorry from Mbapp Lohene, border village with Gambia, according to the same source.
