Africa celebrates, this Monday, May 25, its World Day. This celebration comes at a time when the continent and the rest of the world are experiencing one of the worst crises of the century due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The consequences of this crisis are already perceptible and the situation will be increasingly dramatic. This is what Steve Utterwelghe told us that we received in the last debate of the Laboratory of info. The resident representative of the UNDP in Tunisia had before him the latest report on the human development index which had just been released. This document warns that Africa will be, along with South Asia, the most affected continent. This figure is enough to warn about the scale of the disaster: up to 60 million people could fall into extreme poverty this year.
To answer this question, a giant brainstorming will take place over three days, starting tomorrow Tuesday, May 26. These are virtual workshops for reflection, oriented towards concrete actions, on Inclusive Finance, as an essential tool for Africa's resilience in the face of Covid 19.
Former prime ministers, ministers in office and others who have accumulated a long experience in the management of public affairs in different African countries, will exchange their ideas and proposals with leaders of major public and private institutions, representatives of different Think Tank, actors from development finance companies (SFD) and microfinance institutions, renowned experts.
Through Le Laboratoire de l'info, lobserver.info is a partner of this giant brainstorming which is organized in partnership between the Think & Do Tank Team RM, the Network of the Confederation of West African Financial Institutions (CIF ) and the pan-African bank EcoBank.
You can follow the exchanges, which promise to be interesting, live through our site lobserver.info and its official Facebook page L'Observateur du Maroc et d'Afrique.
In addition to your comments, you can also ask your questions to the speakers. You will thus contribute to the expected roadmap of the event, which will have to propose concrete actions for the revival of the African economy and thus curb the recession.
