TotalEnergies a announced on Tuesday September 2, 2025 to have obtained two exploration permits offshore off the coast of Nigeria. The production sharing contract has been signed with South Atlantic Petroleum.

In a statement, TotalEnergies a indicated that the French energy company has signed a production sharing contract with its Nigerian exploration and development company South Atlantic petroleum oil and gas production, for PPL 2000 and PPL 2001 exploration permits. This contract was signed as part of of a call for tenders organized by the Nigerian regulatory authority for the sector Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. TotalEnergies owner of the 80% license will be the operator of the program, South Atlantic Petroleum in gets 20%.
