The low representation of marginalized groups in the corridors of political, financial and cultural power continues to grow around the world. In particular, the countries of the South are seriously under-represented

Development economics is dedicated to improving the well-being of billions of people in low-income countries. But the representation of the latter within the major groups and decision-making meetings leaves something to be desired.
This is the case of the Journal of Development Economics, the leading development economics journal where research reports are published, the World Bank's Annual Conference on Development Economics (CABMED), Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) ) to test the effectiveness of interventions to reduce poverty in low-income countries.
It is true that developing country scholars in these leading institutions are making important contributions to the field of development economics. But the incentives and priorities of the institutional cultures in which they navigate play a crucial role.
