The latest data from the Monetary Fund international (IMF) mention that Côte d'Ivoire now displays the the third highest level of GDP per capita in sub-Saharan Africa, after South Africa, the largest mining country on the continent, and Angola, big oil-producing country that extracted 31 times more oil in 2024, and which is expected to exceed in 2026.

The evolution of Côte d'Ivoire results in particular of a policy of diversification and industrialization, making the Coast Ivory is the most dynamic economy on the continent, in view of its rates of growth and its level of wealth. The IMF indicates that Côte d'Ivoire has posted a GDP per capita of 2,723 dollars in 2024, thus positioning itself at the first place among the countries of continental West Africa, and in third place in sub-Saharan Africa, excluding countries with less than three million inhabitants (according to PRB demographics).

Outside, therefore, countries under three million of inhabitants, such as Seychelles, the richest country in Africa (with a GDP per capita of 21 532 dollars, but that only has about 120 thousand inhabitants), Mauritius, the second richest country (11,883 dollars, and only 1.3 million inhabitants), or Gabon, the most prosperous country in Africa continental (9,202 dollars, for 2.5 million inhabitants) and Guinea Equatorial (second), followed by Botswana, the world's second largest producer of diamonds, after Russia, and with a GDP per capita of 7,117 dollars), the Coast Ivory ranks third in sub-Saharan Africa behind South Africa (6,332) and Angola (3,054).

Note that by occupying the third place, the country is thus ahead of Ghana (2,406 dollars), Mauritania (2,362), the Republic of Congo (2,360) and Kenya (2,305 dollars), and most countries prosperous in continental East Africa, excluding French-speaking Djibouti). By Elsewhere, Côte d'Ivoire thus ranks very far ahead of countries like Ethiopia (1,320 dollars), or even Nigeria (about 1,100 dollars), after recent rebasing of GDP (not yet taken into account by the IMF) and Rwanda (1,028), which therefore have per capita GDP levels respectively 2.5 and 2.6 times lower than in Côte d'Ivoire.
