Despite signs of a strong recovery in the U.S. economy, particularly in terms of employment and services activity in March, the dollar fell about 0.8%.

The greenback's decline coincided on Tuesday with a easing in bond markets. After posting a 3.5% gain since the beginning of the year against a basket of reference currencies, the dollar clearly slowed down on Tuesday, losing about 0.8%.

The dollar index calculated by the ICE, which measures its evolution against a basket composed of the euro, the pound sterling, the yen, the Canadian dollar, the Swiss franc and the Swedish krona, fell late Tuesday evening by 0.79% to 92.29 points.
The euro regained 0.55% to $1.1875 against the greenback on the interbank market in New York.

In the interest rate market, the 10-year T-Bond fell 6 basis points to 1.65%, after peaking at around 1.74% last week. The 30-year rate fell to 2.31% (-4 bps) from 1.64% at the beginning of the year.

The unemployment rate fell from 6.2% in February to 6% in March. The ISM services index for March in the United States, released on Monday, reached a record high, reaching 63.7 in March against 55.3 in February and 59 expected by economists.
