This weekend finds the currencies in scattered ranks. As China Curbs the Yuan; GBP/USD hits 3-year high as dollar remains weak its highest level in three years. It surpassed a previous high set in February, taking its gains this year to 4.2%.

At the same time, the dollar fell slightly and the offshore yuan remained stable following China's latest efforts to contain the currency. Financial institutions have been ordered to keep more of their foreign currency reserves with the central bank to limit selling, after the yuan hit a four-year high of 6.3674 to one US dollar.

This order increased from 5% to 7% the amount of foreign exchange reserves that banks must keep on deposit with the PBOC. The Australian dollar pared its gains after the central bank left its key policy parameters unchanged.
