France is deferring more than 3 billion, to June 2023. With Burkina Faso, it has signed an agreement to suspend a debt of 5.9 million euros, or 3.87 billion matched over the 5-year period, with a postponement to June 15, 2023.

This postponement of credit maturities should allow Burkina Faso to have additional resources to finance the recovery of its economy lonely by the health crisis and its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) contracted by 0.2%, according to the African Development Bank (bad). This postponement of repayment is part of the debt suspension initiative called Issd of the Paris Club over the period from July 1 to December 31, 2021. It should be recalled that in 2021, six countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) will have to benefit from a postponement of debt repayment of up to 51.1 million dollars, or 28.3 billion FCFA.
