The Central Depositary/Settlement Bank (DC/BR) announces the appointment of Birahim DIOUF as Deputy Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect. He will assist the Director General in the operational, financial and development management of the DC/BR.  To this end, he will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the management of all the Departments or Directorates attached to him.
The appointment of the new Deputy Director General of the DC/BR is in line with the new strategic orientations of this central structure of the WAEMU Regional Financial Market in charge of the centralization of the custody of securities, the successful completion of Settlement/Delivery operations following stock exchange operations as well as than the payment of Events On Value.
Birahim DIOUF has thirty years of experience in the financial sector and in particular in capital markets and investment banking. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Director General of the DC/BR, he was Director of the Department of Studies, Strategy and Market Development of the BRVM and the DC/BR (2015 – 2020). And Director of Operations of the DC/BR and Director of Studies, Strategy and Market Development (2012 – 2015).
He joined the Central Market Structures for the first time in February 1998 until 2003 as Director of Operations of the DC/BR. Before joining BRVM and DC/BR, he  worked for the investment bank African Alliance Investment Bank - AAIB – South Africa (2007 – 2011), for the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), BMCE Capital Investment (2003 – 2005).
Birahim DIOUF holds an MBA from the Sorbonne Graduate School of Business, an Executive MBA from the Institut Français de Gestion Groupe INNSEC U, a Master in Economics from Paris-I Panthéon-Sorbonne, a Postgraduate in Islamic Finance from the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI) in London and a Master's degree in Applied Economics e of Paris IX Dauphine. It has several certifications.
