UEMOA trade ministers are meeting in Abidjan to discuss draft texts on competition. This high-level meeting takes place in a context where the Community has been negatively affected by exogenous shocks such as the COVID-19 crisis and the Ukrainian-Russian war, which has led to inflation in the purchasing power of populations

The meeting therefore provides an opportunity for UEMOA trade ministers to explore new regional and international tools to mitigate the effects of the global crisis on the region's economy. “During our meeting, we are called upon to examine and validate draft texts related to competition and international volunteering in companies, said the Ivorian Minister of Trade, Industry and the Promotion of SMEs,” said Minister Souleymane

The Commissioner in charge of the Regional Market and Cooperation Department, the UEMOA Commission, Professor Filiga Michel Sawadogo, for his part, expressed concerns about the continuing difficulties in the free movement of persons, goods, services and the right of establishment.
