On July 15, 2022, in Abidjan, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group awarded a grant of US$ 4.05 million to Chad for the implementation of the Agriculture Sector Support and Food Crisis Response Project.

The project has two components. The first is the acquisition of certified seeds adapted to the climate and NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) and urea fertilizers to increase productivity and offset the country's cereal deficit. The second component covers project coordination, including the development of work plans and annual budgets, progress reports, and administrative, accounting and financial management. At the end of its implementation, the project will have made it possible to secure the beneficiary populations against the rise in food prices caused cumulatively by the production deficit of the past agricultural season and the war in Ukraine. It should be noted that Chad is one of the Sahelian countries exposed to food and nutritional insecurity.
