At least four Ivorian banks materialized this weekend, their decision to help the government in the response to the pandemic of the new coronavirus that is raging around the world.

 

These are Societe Generale, Coris Bank, the National Investment Bank (Bni) and the Sahelo-Saharan Bank for Investment and Trade (Bsic). Four banks whose contribution makes a total cumulative amount of 200 million CFA francs.

On 27 March, Societe Generale made a donation worth 80,000,000 CFA francs, consisting of protective equipment for the medical profession and treatment equipment for the sick, including ventilators. The bank "is fully mobilized and remains at the side of its customers and the populations living in Côte d'Ivoire ," said Aymeric Villebrun, the director general, in the presence of Minister Eugène Aka Aouelé of Health and Public Hygiene.

For their part, the other three banks handed over cheques as a donation to the cabinet of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Coris Bank and the BNI each released 50 million CFA francs, against 20 million for BSIC.

"The State is very grateful to these banking institutions for the beautiful spontaneous contribution they make in the fight against Covid-19. This reflects the excellent cooperation that the State maintains with the banking sector. I hope that their example will be followed by others ," said Minister Adama Coulibaly.

As a reminder, the country announced a response plan with a total cost of 95 billion CFA francs , " which requires the state's share, but also the contributions of the various actors including the private sector and technical and financial partners", according to the Minister of Finance. Who recognizes the impact of the pandemic on the functioning of businesses and the economy.

"All these aspects are being examined. A document is being finalized and will be submitted to the Prime Minister for validation and will be made public in the coming days," said Adama Couibaly.
