The military court has just arrested about forty police officers and gendarmes for racketeering on the roads. They will be tried in October.

Suring "zero tolerance" for corruption in law enforcement in the country, General Ange Kessi, the government commissioner in charge of prosecuting soldiers who broke the law told AFP : " We are no longer going to tolerate certain things. We will now enter the phase of punishment and repression, as soon as the judicial year begins. The military court has already scheduled the trial of 43 police and gendarmes for racketeering on the roads ." This trial will be held as part of the "punch" operations against corruption in public services, launched in recent months by the Ministry for the Promotion of Good Governance and the Fight against Corruption.
