Mobile money services will soon be introduced on electronic payment terminals in Côte d'Ivoire and then across several countries on the continent. To this end, a fintech specialized in digital payment in Africa, Bizao, has signed a partnership with Médiasoft Lafayette, ingenico's authorized Ivorian distributor.

Merchants in Côte d'Ivoire will now be able to collect mobile money and credit card payments from the same device without any additional technical fees. This initiative initially concerns Côte d'Ivoire, which alone accounts for 38% of electronic payment terminals (VSEs) in the WAEMU region, mainly manufactured by the Ingenico group.

The number of credit card reading VSEs and the volume of transactions in the WAEMU area increased by nearly 20%. Today, nearly 10% of transactions made with a credit card are carried out on a TPE and the average transaction is around 107,000 FCFA.
