Each year, the drinking water sector loses approximately 23 billion FCfa due to the non-invoicing of 36% (59,000,000 m3 of water) of drinking water produced.
Illegal connections cause the water sector and the government to lose money and also create problems of insalubrity and public health for the populations.
To curb this fraud, the Ministry of Hydraulics is deploying 100 investigators in the field. The Minister of Hydraulics, Laurent Tchagba, gave kits for this purpose to these agents working within the Non-Invoiced Water Brigade (Enf), on March 26, at the Water Trades Center in Yopougon.
On the occasion, Tchagba Laurent welcomed this operation which, according to him, is part of the implementation of component C, reduction of uninvoiced water of the Aptf project.
“We developed the Aptf project launched on May 8, 2020, in Yopougon, to solve the problem of the availability of drinking water, pipelines and continuity of service in Greater Abidjan. One of the objectives of this project, which solves the drinking water problem in 155 non-piped sub-districts of Greater Abidjan, is the fight against fraud, which is a phenomenon that plagues the drinking water sector,” indicated Laurent Tchagba.
The investigators will be responsible for conducting surveys on households, Sodeci terminated members, fraudulent networks, social connection needs, subscriber billing, etc.
