Côte d'Ivoire has just strengthened its legal arsenal for an effective fight against financial crime. Through two decrees, the Government announced the creation of a trial chamber specialized in financial crime and the modalities of execution of the sentence of community service.

The first decree determines the modalities of execution of the sentence of community service as well as the entities likely to accommodate the condemned to the work of general interest that are, on the one hand, the State, local authorities, public institutions and, on the other hand, associations declared to be of public utility as well as legal persons governed by private law fulfilling a public service mission.
The second decree establishes a trial chamber specialized in financial crime within the Court of First Instance of Abidjan. A specialized, more extensive trial chamber, headed by the Vice-President of the Court of First Instance of Abidjan, with a view to preventing and combating, as best as possible, corruption, money-laundering and related financial crimes.
