Corruption continues to plague Guinean public administration. Allegations concerning corruption are estimated at nearly 480 billion Guinean francs in just two months of activity according to estimates by the National Agency for Combating Corruption and Promoting Good Governance (ANLC-PBG).

The estimated figures say a lot about the extent of the phenomenon of corruption, which is a real obstacle to the country's development. Noted that these amounts are squarely coming out of the state coffers. During a press conference in Conakry on Friday, December 9, 2022, Saikou Amadou Diallo, executive secretary of the National Agency for Combating Corruption and Promoting Good Governance (ANLC-PBG) indicated that “there are allegations concerning corruption that total 480 billion Guinean francs.”

According to Diallo, state-owned companies, sectoral departments and public entities are involved, but he is nuanced and states that these are allegations. “This does not mean that 480 billion Guinean francs have been misappropriated from our public funds,” he said.

To put an end to the scourge, ANLC-PBG intends to fundamentally accentuate its struggles on the two sides of the corruption equation: the corrupt and the corrupter. Because, according to him, there is no corrupt person without a corrupter.
