There are new issues in the fuel fraud case. Two judges from the economic and financial pool of the Ouaga I High Court are targeted by allegations of corruption.

The fuel fraud case is being judged in two parts at the moment. The first concerns smuggling and endangering the lives of others with 40 sentences ranging from six to 24 months in prison and fines of 500,000 to 8,942,400,000 CFA francs. The second concerns corruption with the conviction of 15 people, including five customs officers, to prison sentences of 17 months and fines of 2,000,000 to 10,000,000 CFA francs. A third part of this fuel fraud case, begun in June 2020, is expected to be judged by the economic and financial pool of the Ouaga I High Court.

The president of the chamber that judged these two cases Oumarou Zono and one of his colleagues Aly Son are facing allegations of corruption. The former says that he cannot make a decision at this stage with regard to his ethical obligations and the duty of reserve. The second denies the allegations.
