In a meeting with Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, The Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Wamkele Mene said that the digitalization of Abidjan-Lagos customs procedures is progressing rapidly. The resources needed to implement this agenda have already been mobilized.

The digitalization of customs procedures along the 1081 km long Abidjan-Lagos corridor crossing five countries (Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Benin and Nigeria) will soon be a reality. This will facilitate commercial transactions, saving time, which is of the utmost importance for perishable agricultural products transported in the region, not to mention the impact on costs of any kind.
