On Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Central Bank of Nigeria signed a memorandum of
cooperation.
The partnership between the BNA and the Central Bank of
Nigeria was signed by the governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA),
Manuel Tiago Dias, and by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,
Olayemi Cardoso. This agreement also aims at the exchange of experiences and
technical training, as well as information in the field of
banking supervision.
For the governor of the BNA, Angola has
currently from a banking institution of Nigerian origin. With this protocol,
the country hopes that the relationships between Angolan commercial banks and
Nigerians will be able to deepen their knowledge for the benefit of entrepreneurs in both countries.
The cooperation protocol includes, among others,
the establishment of a bilateral forum for reciprocal exchanges and the
sharing of technical assistance between the two authorities in order to improve the
capacity to perform the functions of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
It also provides for a collaboration in the supervision of authorized institutions and in the exchange information on cybersecurity between them, as well as to the proposal of licensing, supervision, resolution planning and implementation of measures. It will also be a question of guaranteeing a transparent exchange. of information and, finally, to define the procedures for the exchange of this information.
