The African Development Bank (AfDB) has just granted Cameroon a financing of 106 billion FCFA for the third phase of the support program for the transport sector: development of the national road No. 11, the Ring Road. The signing of the loan agreement took place last Friday in Yaoundé.

The Ring Road is a linear of about 365 km and allows the interconnection of five departments of the North-West while forming a loop from Bamenda to Bamenda via Bambui, Ndop, Babessi, Kumbo, Nkambe, Misaje, Nyos, Wum and Bafut with a connection to the Nigerian border from the locality of Misaje. With afDB funding, there will be a need to rehabilitate and develop 280 km of the Bambui-Ndop-Babessi section, including the Babungo-Dawara, KumboNkambe-Misaje and Nkambe City Bypass, Misaje-Dumbo-Nigerian border, Wum-Bafut-Bamenda. Related developments, including the rehabilitation of some schools, the construction of agricultural storage stores, the construction of multifunctional centres for young people and girls to strengthen their empowerment capacity are also planned. At the Ministry of Public Works, the contracting authority for this project, it is indicated that the works of the first lot, Kumbo-Nkambe-Misaje (88Km) are being awarded.
