Kong photovoltaic power plant with an estimated cost of 37 billion FCFA (more than
65 million USD).
The Kong solar project reinforces a
national dynamic already welcomed by the International Energy Agency. Ce
50 MW project equipped with 88,000 panels must produce enough
of electricity to supply around 380,000 households. The infrastructure
located on 80 hectares in the Tchologo region in the North of the country, is
scheduled to be completed and put into service in the first quarter of 2027. She
will allow, according to the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, to avoid
annually the emission of 55,000 tons of CO ₂ and cr é will have over 400 direct jobs and
indirect.

The project is part of the implementation of Côte d'Ivoire's strategic choice
to accelerate its energy transition, by diversifying its electricity mix and
strengthening the share of renewable energies, in line with the vision of
President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara. The objective is to contribute
45% renewable energies by 2030.” This project is part of a
program of twelve solar power plants planned by 2030 for a capacity
cumulative 1044 MW.
As a reminder, the project is supported by the Kong Solaire joint venture, bringing together InfraCo Africa, a member of Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG), and Africavia, under a model BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer
).
