The African Trade Center Abuja (AATC) of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) obtained the prestigious LEED Platinum certification awarded by United States Green Building Council and Green Business Certification Inc.

The prestigious LEED certification Platinum is the highest global standard for design and construction of sustainable buildings. This important step makes the AATC of Abuja the first building in Nigeria, the second in West Africa and the nineteenth in Africa to reach this level of recognition. The installation was also among the first shopping and business centers in large across the continent to obtain LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and in environmental design) Platinum, underlining Afreximbank's commitment to integrating sustainability, innovation and climate-friendly practices in infrastructure African trade. The AATC in Abuja includes two interconnected nine towers floors designed to create a complete ecosystem for commerce, business and innovation.

originally designed to get the LEED Gold certification, the AATC Abuja exceeded expectations thanks to the dedication, expertise, and determination of the project team, who included architects, designers, engineers, consultants, entrepreneurs and teams in charge of environmental sustainability and the governance (ESG) and project management of Afreximbank.

With 81 points obtained, AATC Abuja exceeds the threshold required for Platinum certification, thus demonstrating that he is among the most environmentally friendly buildings, the most efficient in resources and the most efficient in Africa.
