On the occasion, HE Mr. Aly Touré, Permanent Representative of Côte d to International Commodity Organizations, highlighted some obstacles to the Sustainable Development Goals.
After greeting the various representatives and authorities present on this solemn occasion, HE Mr. Aly Touré notifies that the CFC Board of Governors is convened at a time when global food systems are being disrupted by a series of shocks linked to climate change and the pressure of the forces of deglobalization. Indeed, for him, global food systems are broken because of conflicts, sometimes for long periods of time, military clashes and violence in various parts of the world and in Africa, but also the current inflation induced by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia war.
Moreover, the cumulative effect poses a serious risk to the achievement of SDG 2 and, in his opinion, affects the most vulnerable populations. Also, other SDGs related to food systems are also affected, in particular SDGs 11, 12, 14 and 15 are also affected. It is noted that natural resources, such as commodities, are needed for human survival, such as food, fresh water, the ocean, forests, soils, and climate change, which in turn contributes to the degradation of valuable resources.
