The World Bank has just disbursed an additional financing of 6 billion FCFA for Carrier Hotel. This fund aims to support connectors and digital infrastructure, as part of strengthening Togo's connectivity and developing its digital economy. This support from the Bretton Woods institution is part of the West Africa Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (WARCIP). This project aims to strengthen the contribution of the Bretton Woods institution to the major projects launched in Togo, to increase the geographical scope of broadband networks and to reduce the costs of communication services.

The funds will notably make it possible "to complete the construction of the neutral and open accommodation and co-location center (Carrier Hotel), which will serve as a regional hub for the purchase and resale of international bandwidth capacity in the broadband market in Togo", says the Washington-based institution. "The establishment of the infrastructure planned for this project will reduce the cost of international connectivity and support the digital transformation program in Togo," said Hawa Cisse Wagué, The Bank's Resident Representative in Togo.

In addition, the resources announced should be used to finalize the "Togo Numérique 2025" strategy, with a view to making the most of the achievements in line with Togo's digital transformation acceleration project.
