After the conviction of its vice-president Teodorin Obiang, French justice refused to return to the State of Equatorial Guinea a mansion located on Avenue Foch & Agrave; Paris.

"This is a denial of justice” for Equatorial Guinea, the state lawyer, Kévin Grossmann, told AFP by announcing his intention to file an appeal cassation. The luxurious building of nearly 3,000 m2 is estimated at around 107 million euros by the courts. Teodorin Obiang, the vice-president of Equatorial Guinea, was definitively sentenced to three years of suspended prison, a fine of 30 million euros and property confiscations, after his appeal was rejected in July 2021. Taking note of this conviction, Equatorial Guinea submitted to the Court of Appeal in September 2021 an application for the return of the building on Avenue Foch, claiming to be the owner of the building “in good faith.”
