The Uemoa startup springboard competition ends on Monday, November 30, 2020. (DR) The Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) is launching the first edition of the “Tremlin Start-up UEMOA” competition.

Started on November 20, registration will end on Monday, November 30, 2020. This competition is open to any start-up formally created in one of the UEMOA member states. However, to apply, the start-up must be created after 30 June 2017; carry out its economic activities in one or more UEMOA member states.

The main promoter of the start-up must have been born after 30 June 1975; the start-up must contribute to the green economy and be a start-up linked to an entrepreneurial support structure in order to submit its application file.

This competition aims to support efforts to promote modern and innovative entrepreneurship, and above all to accelerate the development of start-ups in the UEMOA area. It mainly aims to identify, reward and support the best start-ups that will stand out for the relevance of their activities and their impact on the green economy. But also to stimulate structures to support entrepreneurship.

For this first edition, the five best in UEMOA will receive awards of excellence ranging from 10 to 14 million FCFA. For the three best start-ups in each State, an incentive prize in the amount of 5 million FCFA will be awarded to each of them, i.e. 24 incentive prizes for all eight member states.

In addition, five awards of excellence in the amount of 2 million FCFA each for structures supporting or promoting the business that have submitted an application for an award of excellence and three incentive awards in the amount of 1 million FCFA each for support structures that have submitted the application for an incentive prize winner.

This competition is launched in collaboration with the Regional Consular Chamber of UEMOA (CCR-UEMOA) and the National Consular Chambers (NCCs) of the member states of UEMOA, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and the Togo.
