Ethiopian Airlines has inaugurated a new airport in Yabello, in southern Oromia, marking a major step in strengthening the Ethiopian domestic air network. Built at a cost of over one billion ETB, this airport includes a new aerodrome, access roads, support infrastructures and a temporary terminal.

The inauguration ceremony took place in presence of Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, senior officials federal and regional governments, airline executives and members of the local community.

Mesfin Tasew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said that the new route to Yabello was an essential driver of development, promoting the links between communities, stimulating trade and encouraging investments. He added that the airline had dedicated more than 30 domestic aircraft, serving cities across the country, while the expansion and construction of passenger terminals remained an absolute priority.
