On April 14, 2021, in accordance with the recommendations of the last Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Union, the current President Roch Kaboré proceeded to the appointment of the new Commissioners of UEMOA. Thus, the Senegalese Abdoulaye Diop is the new President and Pr Kako Nubukpo has moved from the status of Advisor to that of Commissioner.

The 8 new Commissioners representing the 8 economies of this regional grouping are the fruit of a consensus which is the main hallmark of WAEMU.
The Senegalese Abdoulaye Diop is the new President of the Union Commission.
The former Director of the economic and digital Francophonie, teacher-researcher and lecturer, Pr Kako Nubukpo will sit in the new WAEMU Commission as Commissioner. Former Togolese Minister for Economic Prospects and the Evaluation of Public Policies from 2013 to 2015, Pr Kako Nubukpo had returned to service at WAEMU since January 05, 2021 as Advisor to the outgoing President of the Commission of this group under -regional.
The other members of the WAEMU Commission were also appointed on the same day by the current president of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Union. They are Jonas Gbian (Benin), Filiga Miche lsawadogo (Burkina Faso), Paul Koffi Koffi (Ivory Coast), Mamadù Serifo Jaquite (Guinea-Bissau) Lassine Bouare (Mali), Mahamadou Gado (Niger).
