At the sixth edition of the Forum for resilience in Africa placed trade facilitation at the heart of continental integration, held from 1 to 3 October 2025, at In Abidjan, the panelists called for quality infrastructure in borders.

The participants of the sixth Resilience Forum in Africa think that digital transformation at the border level is essential to promote intra-African trade. Border posts single-stop (One Stop Border Posts, OSBP), a digitization of services, levers considered decisive to give substance to the Free Trade Area continental Africa (AfCFTA), were mentioned. According to Mohammed Abdiker, chef of the office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), during of a panel entitled “Regional Integration and Trade: Pathways to peace”, “the ideal is to have a single border post between countries. If we have such strong infrastructures, this will help in the facilitation of trade”.

According to Magdalene Dagoseh, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Liberia, digitalization will make it possible to trace the flows of people and goods, to reduce corruption and to improve border governance.

Beyond the bricks physical, digital transformation is considered essential. For the minister, “in addition to having a single border crossing at each of our borders, border services will need to be digitized.”
