Imports to Nigeria recorded an increase in 2022. This was also the case for exports in the fourth half of the same year.

Total imports increased to 25,590 billion naira ($55.6 billion) and exports to 26,790 billion ($58.2 billion). Indeed, Nigeria recorded a trade surplus of 1.2 trillion naira (2.6 billion dollars). In the fourth half of 2022, export volume increased by 10.28% compared to the previous year. On the other hand, the volume of imports fell by 9.73% year-on-year.

The main importers of Nigerian goods are Indonesia (7.44%), France (7.70%), India (7.71%), the Netherlands (9.03%), and Spain (9.70%). Major exporters, providing 55.82% of the value of all foreign goods in Nigeria, send exporters to Nigeria, China, Belgium, India, the Netherlands, and the United States. Petroleum, liquefied gas, and urea were the main export products. Nigeria also imported more gasoline, diesel and durum wheat.
