The fifth edition of the fintech competition was organized in Lomé by the pan-African banking group. The Nigerian duo Oluwole Michael and Afolabi Olamide won.

The start-up Touch and Pay (TAP) won the fifth edition of the Ecobank Fintech Challenge with a ten-minute pitch for each finalist. They appeared before a four-member jury, chaired by Nvalaye Kourouma, head of digital technology at the Ecobank group. Led by Oluwole Michael and Afolabi Olamide, the Touch and Pay (TAP) start-up is a unique payment and mobile service platform that captures offline and online microtransactions, such as paying for bus trips. It makes it possible to reduce the amount of physical money in circulation, while encouraging the use of digital technology to pay for goods and services. According to the podium “This award is a great opportunity to further promote our platform with the pan-African group Ecobank”.

So, during the ceremony on October 27 last year, a check for 50,000 dollars was presented by the entrepreneur duo Oluwole Michael. With this award, the winner and the five other winners join an Ecobank Fintech Fellowship program, which offers them the opportunity to explore potential business partnerships with the pan-African giant, such as integrating with its banking platforms and expanding their businesses on the group's 33 African markets.
