Burundian President Evariste On Wednesday, Ndayishimiye took part in a workshop dedicated to the validation of National Strategy to Combat Corruption in Burundi (SNLCC), a document prepared by the State Inspectorate General in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), reports the National Radio and Television of Burundi (RTNB

Gathered around the Head of State, the government officials, senior officials, government officials, representatives of civil society and other stakeholders examined the measures envisaged to eradicate corruption, a major obstacle to national development. During this meeting, President Ndayishimiye urged leaders to “be servants and not to serve themselves”, stressing that the success of this initiative required a change in mentality, the strict compliance with laws, the protection of public goods and the digitization of services and financial management.

The President indicated that the implementation of the SNLCC would await its validation by the Council of Ministers and the committee follow-up scheduled for next January, a committee he will personally chair. President Ndayishimiye concluded the workshop by affirming that an effective implementation of the SNLCC could make it possible to significantly reduce corruption in the country by 2030, thus paving the way for more transparent governance and development durable.
