The Country Director of the International Labour Office (ILO), Fréderic Lapeyre, was on Tuesday, 25 May 2021 at the premises of the National Council of the Informal Economy of Burkina Faso (CNEI-BF). The objective of this exchange and working visit is the validation of the integrated national strategy for the formalization of the informal economy towards the formal economy. Fréderic Lapeyre discussed beforehand with the Minister of Youth and Employment, Salifo Tiemtoré and all the actors involved in the development of the formalization strategy on how to improve the world of work in Burkina. According to him, these meetings are part of the validation of the integrated national strategy for the formalization of the informal economy towards the formal economy. This improvement requires support for informal sector actors, in order to increase their productivity and reduce their risks and vulnerabilities so that they can converge towards the formal economy.

The CNEI-BF will play a fundamental role in the implementation of the strategy. It will work at the provincial and national levels to ensure that the voice of the actors of this economy is taken into account both in the formulation of policies and in their implementation.
