The weekly Council of Ministers reviewed the results of the 2020-2021 crop year. According to the Minister of Agriculture, Hydro-Agricultural Development and Mechanization, Salifou Ouédraogo, the agricultural season saw a surplus production of 109 thousand tons. The balance sheet of the 2020-2021 season shows an overall production of 5 million 179 thousand tons of cereals, with a production surplus of 109 thousand tons, despite the decrease in surface areas of 4%. The announcement was made at the end of the Council of Ministers chaired this Friday by the President of Faso, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.
The Council considered and adopted several texts on its agenda. Among other things, the adoption of the decree on the creation, attributions and functioning of the Millennium challenge account Burkina Faso II, which is the implementing body of the second Compact in Burkina Faso, estimated at about 250 billion FCFA for the benefit of the energy sector.
The government spokesman also cites two decrees erecting the National Police Academy and the Police Academy as public administrative establishments, which were also adopted under the same ministry.
The Board also adopted ordinances ratifying several grant, grant and loan agreements with IBRD, IDA and BADEA. According to Ousséni Tamboura, these agreements will allow Burkina Faso to mobilize cumulative resources of more than 305 billion CFA francs.
