The Ministry of Finance will today launch an auction operation for treasury bills valued at 20,000,000,000 (twenty billion) FC, or 10,000,000 (ten million) USD.

In a statement published by the ministry, the operation has a maturity of 3 (three) months and the subscription will be made the same day before 11:00 am, Kinshasa time, at the Central Bank of Congo (BCC) or via internet platforms. The announcement of the results is set for the same Tuesday before 15:00, while the settlement of subscriptions is scheduled for Thursday, July 8. The treasury bill is a debt security issued by the State and repayable at maturity. In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), it is the government that issues these debt securities through the public treasury. When an economic operator or an individual buys a treasury bill, he lends money to the State and becomes, in a way, its creditor.
