Actors at various levels in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism are participating in an international training seminar since Tuesday, February 9 in Lomé.

Members of the National Order of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Accountants of Togo (ONECCA-Togo), bank executives, insurance companies, decentralized financial systems, financial directors of public and private companies, in collaboration with the International Federation of Francophone Accountants (FIDEF) gathered around the money laundering issue.
The objective of this seminar is to raise awareness among stakeholders and to present the legal provisions in force to fight against the phenomenon whose legal framework is regulated by two laws in Togo. An opportunity for relevant actors to exchange views on international safeguard mechanisms and arrangements, with a view to increasing the protection of the integrity of the national and international financial system.
Opening the proceedings, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr. Kossi Tofio, welcomed the organization of this seminar, which constitutes a framework for capacity building of stakeholders. It will allow participants, he said, to acquire technical concepts and become more familiar with international standards on combating money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
"We have the obligation to put in place working techniques to be able to cover this aspect because if you do an inspection, you must be able to set in motion the due diligence that allows you to ensure that the entity you control is not in these kinds of phenomena", said the President of ONECCA-Togo, Yawo Djidotor.
