Based on provisional figures, the Central Bank of Luxembourg has informed that the sum of credit institutions' balance sheets amounted to 1,011.488 million euros as of September 30, 2022 against 1,002.936 million euros as of August 31, 2022. That is an increase of 0.85%.

The evolution of credit institutions' balance sheets is mainly due to increases in other assets. Compared to last year, the sum of credit institutions' balance sheets increased by 9.5%. Indeed, at the end of September 2022, the interbank balance fell by 2,805 million, or 1.2%, to reach 222,290 million euros. Thus, between August and September 2022, loans from non-banking customers increased from September 2022. Loans to non-banking customers increased by 1,735 million euros, or 1.4%.

In addition, loans to other financial intermediaries (AIFs) increased by 10,748 million euros (34.5%), loans to non-financial corporations (SNFs) increased by 1,898 million euros (or 6.6%) and housing loans to households increased by 2,833 million euros (or 7.3%) in a one-year interval between September 2021 and September 2022.
