The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) announces that banks ' own liquidity in the WAEMU area recorded a decline in November 2020. Thus, it stands at 96.6 billion CFA francs.

The own liquidity of banks operating in the Union fell by CFAF 96.6 billion due to the negative impact of banknote movements and outward transfers.
Similarly, non-WAEMU transfer issuances, which were larger than receipts during the month, increased further. The positive balance of transactions with States and other net factors showed a surplus of CFAF 260.7 billion and mitigated the impact of the negative impact of other factors.
The BCEAO informs that unlike these two sectors, net withdrawals made at bank counters by customers increased by 202.6 billion FCFA, degrading the banks' own cash flow. During the same month, the Central Bank's refinancing in favour of banks increased by CFAF 0.7 billion in response to the increase in their demands. As a result, "bank liquidity recorded a decrease of 95.8 billion FCFA".
