Inflation stood at 2.3% in the WAEMU at the end of December 2020
The Central Bank of West African States (Bceao), in its publication entitled "Monthly Bulletin of Statistics", informs that the business climate in the WAEMU zone is almost stable in November and December 2020. The inflation rate stood at 2.3% year-on-year at the end of December 2020. The business climate indicator stood at 97.5 during the month of December 2020, almost stable compared to November 2020. The Bceao, which gives the information, points out that the index of turnover in trade, contracted by 3.4%, over one year, in December 2020, after a decline of 4.7% the previous month, mainly related to a less pronounced decline in sales of petroleum and food products.
However, the "Monthly Bulletin of Statistics" reveals that the rise in industrial production slowed to 2.7% in December 2020, from 4.6% the previous month. This decline was caused by the deceleration in the pace of output growth in the extractive industries.
