The Barid Al-Maghrib group unveiled, on Saturday in Tangier, a commemorative postage stamp marking Morocco's hosting of the 58th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (COM 2026), held from March 28 to April 3 in the Strait city.

The unveiling ceremony took place on the sidelines of the opening of the 44th meeting of the COM 2026 Committee of Experts and the 58th session of the Economic Commission for Africa. Several personalities participated, including the Director General of Barid Al-Maghrib, Amin Benjelloun Touimi, the Deputy Executive Secretary responsible for program support at UNECA, Mama Keita, as well as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the African Union and UNECA, Mohamed Arrouchi.

Also present were Hanan Morsy, Deputy Executive Secretary and Chief Economist of UNECA, as well as Mohamed Tarik Bchir, outgoing chairman of the COM Committee of Experts bureau and interim director of the Treasury and External Finance at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

According to Barid Al-Maghrib, the stamp's visual highlights the Conference logo, accompanied by a stylized representation of the African continent, symbolizing unity and cooperation among member states. The graphic identity reflects the theme of the 2026 edition: "Growth through innovation: leveraging data and cutting-edge technologies for Africa's economic transformation," through elements evoking progress and modernity.

The chosen colors and motifs inspired by Moroccan heritage also pay tribute to the host country, emphasizing its role in promoting continental economic dialogue.

Through this commemorative issue, Barid Al-Maghrib reaffirms its commitment to supporting major events organized by the Kingdom and to enhancing, through philately, the image of Morocco and the African continent on the international stage.
