FirstBank Ghana plans to open its new branch in the country on Thursday, September 11, 2025 in Tamale. This bold initiative reaffirms FirstBank Ghana's commitment to fostering financial inclusion, to support SMEs and accelerate the socio-economic transformation of Ghana.

FirstBank Ghana extends for the first time its physical presence in the northern belt. The Tamale branch positions the bank in the heart of one of the most dynamic and fast-growing regions of country. Over the past few years, FirstBank Ghana has strategically strengthened its presence across the country with the opening of the Nhyiaeso branch in Kumasi, from the Ashaiman branch near Tema, from the Hospital branch Road to Tema Community 6, branches in Lapaz, Abossey Okai, East Legon, Osu and Tip Toe Lane in Accra, and the relaunch of Takoradi branches Market Circle, Kasoa, Ring Road Central, and Kaneshie.

According to the managing director and CEO of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, “The opening of a branch in Tamale is good more than just geographic expansion. It's a deliberate investment in the population and potential of northern Ghana.”

As a reminder, the economy of Tamale is based on a dynamic network of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which cover key sectors such as agriculture and agri-food (in particular rice farming, poultry farming, breeding and shea butter processing), as well as transport and logistics, construction, trade, health, the hotel industry and the manufacturing industry. These sectors make up no only the backbone of the northern economy, but are also essential to food security, job creation and competitiveness regional commercial in Ghana.
