At the opening of the conference and MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2025 exhibition in Dakar, Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Organization, Dr Omar Farouk IBRAHIM, indicated that Senegal has agreed to provide its contribution to the African Energy Bank (BAE), which should be provided before the end of 2025.

This payment is taking place at the moment when Senegal intensifies its initiatives to advance its energy sector, encompassing significant oil and natural gas reserves. “This payment brings us closer to the establishment of the African Energy Bank”, according to Omar Farouk Ibrahim. With a starting capital of 5 billion dollars who is expected to rise to 120 billion in the next three to five years, the BAE was created to support energy projects in Africa, in particular in the fields of oil, gas and green energies.
