Nigeria is taking a new step in restructuring of its downstream hydrocarbon sector. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and Dangote Refinery have reaffirmed their commitment to a strategic alliance aimed at optimizing operational synergies and to strengthen the country's energy self-sufficiency.

This dynamic was highlighted during the visit of the Group CEO of NNPC Ltd., Bashir Ojulari, at the 650 facility 000 barrels per day located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. At the head of a delegation at a high level, he praised the vision and perseverance of Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, whose project positions Nigeria as a hub strategic refining in Africa.

The meeting, marked by an in-depth visit to installations, is a turning point in streamlining relationships commercial transactions between the national oil company and the largest refinery with a single train in the world. According to Ojulari, this alliance represents a a major driver of synergies between assets, infrastructures, capital and markets, while ensuring better transparency of trade between two entities.

The leader also highlighted the prospects expansion upstream and in related segments such as trading, maritime transport and gas supply. He also expressed his recognition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose reforms and pro-investment policies have contributed to the establishment of a favourable climate for structuring partnerships in the oil and gas sector.

For his part, Aliko Dangote said that Nigerians will be the main beneficiaries of this synergy, thanks to savings scale and value creation expected in all markets.

nnpc Ltd currently holds 7.25% of the capital of the Dangote refinery, a participation considered strategic and aligned with its ambition to strengthen national refining capacities and to consolidate its positioning in the downstream segment.
