The Executive Chairman of George's Green Farms Ltd, Stanford Aderibigbe announced, according to a press release, the investment of approximately $2.5 million in a modern fish farm located in Abeokuta.

A multi-million private investment dollars in aquaculture positions Ogun State as a growing hub of large-scale fish production, with investors looking to fill Nigeria's growing food supply deficit. It's about the George's Green Farms Ltd. Project This investment is focused on production. of catfish, thanks to advanced technological systems designed to reduce costs, improve returns, and attract long-term capital in agriculture, according to the executive president.

According to him, the decision to invest heavily in fish farming was driven by market fundamentals rather than through feeling. For him, Nigeria consumes around 12 billion tons of fish per year, but only produces about 1.2 billion tons locally, forcing it to rely heavily on imports.

According to Aderibigbe, the farm currently extends over approximately 11 hectares and combines traditional earthen ponds with modern recirculating aquaculture tanks (RAS). The installation includes 30 earthen ponds, with a capacity of approximately 12,000 fish each, and seven RAS tanks that can accommodate about 100,000 fish each. The set of these infrastructures give the farm a production capacity of more than one million fish, and expansion projects are under way.
