The activities of the Programme d'appui à la décentralisation dans l'espace UEMOA (PRADEU) for 2021 have just been launched with the signing of a grant agreement between the Ambassador of France in Burkina Faso, Luc Hallade, and the Mayor of the commune of Ouagadougou, Armand Pierre Béouindé (representing the President of the WAEMU Commission).

The signing of a grant agreement for the implementation of the PRADEU makes it possible to make available to the Council of Local Authorities, the necessary resources for the implementation of priority investment projects in the Sikasso - Korhogo - Bobo-Dioulasso area.

The Programme d'appui à la décentralisation dans l'espace UEMOA (PRADEU) aims at local economic development, which is a lever for promoting peace and integration, by placing the populations and their elected representatives at the heart of development challenges.
Its purpose is to enable local and regional authorities to have the means to design, implement and evaluate their public policies, improve access to reliable services and infrastructure, foster local economic development and promote peace and security.

The Ambassador of France to Burkina Faso, Luc Hallade, hoped that States would work together to facilitate the crossing of borders, to meet the needs of the populations through support to local authorities. As for the mayor of the municipality of Bobo-Dioulasso, representing the beneficiaries, Bourahima Sanou stressed that PRADEU has strengthened cooperation at the border.
