A press release from the American diplomatic mission in Dakar mentioned that the Secretary of State's trip follows the 2nd U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington. Thus, the document mentions that “during the session of heads of state on food security that she moderated, the Secretary of State had the opportunity to meet her counterparts from Senegal, Zambia and Malawi. This scheduled trip also follows the sustained commitment of the département du Trésor des États-Unis to African leaders.” ;.

purpose of this business trip is to highlight the work of the Biden-Harris administration to deepen economic ties between the United States and Africa, particularly in the development of trade and investment flows. An initiative that is in line with the United States-Africa Business Forum held from 13 to 15 December 2022 in Washington.
