The working meeting between the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority (ARCC) and the WAEMU Commission was held from 25 to 30 April 2022, in The Gambia. Discussions focused on the concerted implementation of competition rules in the West African region.

This meeting reports a communiqué from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), aimed to continue and finalize the draft cooperation agreement between ARCC and the WAEMU Commission on the modalities of application of the rules Competition rules within the region, and then to share good practices in competition and to identify the difficulties associated with good regulation of the regional market. Three presentations furnished the work. The first was made on the missions, the organization, the activities 2021-2022 and the constraints and suggestions of the WAEMU Commission; the second on the ECOWAS regional competition framework, and the 3rd on the legal instruments for the operationalization of the ECOWAS Regional Competition Authority.
