In the grip of an internal conflict between shareholders, Afriland First Bank is protesting against the adjustment decided by the Congolese Central Bank (BCC).

The board of directors and the general management of Afriland First Bank have been stripped of their management powers since June 20, 2022. And yet, on that same date, the BCC announced the establishment of a provisional administration committee to ensure the recovery of the Congolese subsidiary of the Afriland First Group (AFG), owned by the Cameroonian businessman Paul Kammogne Fokam. This situation seems to be giving rise to a crisis that has certainly not yet revealed all its secrets. In a tug of war, minority shareholders accuse the majority shareholders and the BCC. Note that in 2016, the bankruptcy of the International Bank for Africa in Congo had already shaken the Congolese banking sector.
